The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Tamale North Constituency, Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini, on Monday, December 2, 2024, disbursed a total amount of GHS150, 000 cedis to over 30 women groups doing micro and small scale businesses.

Additionally, the lawmaker also presented about 40 sewing machines to some selected seamstresses including apprentices as part of his women empowerment program as well as cloths and basins to underprivileged women in the constituency.

The NDC Legislator also commissioned a newly constructed toilet facility at Taha to improve sanitation in the community and also presented a tricycle machine to the Kpuntaliga community to facilitate their farming activities and over ten motorbikes to some hardworking individuals to support their economic activities.

In terms of education, Mr. Suhuyini donated school bags, sandals and multipurpose bicycles to some underprivileged children. The bicycles come with carriers which can pick more than one pillion riders. Therefore, the beneficiary students can pick their siblings and or colleagues to and from school on daily basis.

Addressing the media, the Member of Parliament urged the beneficiary groups and individuals to put the items into very good use to improve their socioeconomic livelihood.

The MP clarified that the intervention is not for political expediency but rather something he is always very passionate about doing to improve the living standards of the people and the general growth of the society.

He emphasized that the initiative is not discriminatory and both NDC and NPP women in the selected groups are all benefiting from the packages.

“When I announce the financial package for the women groups, there were some people who said it is not only NDC women in these groups but because I am not discriminatory, I said it should benefit everyone and not only NDC people” he asserted.

The Legislator used the opportunity to outline some of his achievements in various sectors including provision health and educational infrastructure, access to drinking water and youth and women empowerment among others.

As a result, Alhassan Suhuyini said that it will not be out of place if the people decide to vote for him and former President, John Mahama in next Saturday’s general elections in appreciation for the numerous developmental initiatives implemented in the past years of his tenure.
