The Member of Parliament hopeful for Savelugu constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Madam Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has shared her vision to transform the Savelugu constituency when elected as the people’s representative in Parliament on December 7, 2024.
In a soon to broadcast documentary about her developmental achievements and that of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government, the astute female politician highlighted that she will work to expand the Savelugu water system to end the perennial water crisis in the Savelugu municipality and also build dozens of toilet facilities doted in most communities to improve the sanitation situation in the municipality.
She believes that the health of the people is critical to the progress and future of the constituency underscoring the need for a robost health infrastructure to meet health needs of the people..
She also reiterated her unwavering commitment for women empowerment and girl-child education to reduce the impoverishment of the people.
She believes crop farming which is predominantly a major activity for many families and households is an area that requires serious investment and as a result she will take steps to provide essential support to farmers across board.
Hajia Fatahiya posited that the aim of every farmer is to have a bumper harvest in order to feed their families and sell to earn some form of income. As a result, she has resolved to engage with investors in the agricultural sector to boost the agribusiness in the constituency.
She has also pledged to annually support farmers with the necessary inputs and agrochemicals as well as the needed farming equipment so that farmers will not have to incur so much cost in production.
The staffer at the Office of the President disclosed that the people in her campaign rounds have largely complained about inadequate school blocks in most communities outside the district capital and therefore pledged to undertake the construction of massive educational facilities to bring teaching and learning closer to the people.
Achievements
The NPP Parliamentary candidate having outlined her plans for the constituency mentioned nonetheless some infrastructure development she personally initiated so for to ameliorate the predicaments of the constituents.
“Everywhere I visit the testimonies keep coming because the people can see the level of development I have brought to the constituency. I have facilitated the construction of the Savelugu Community Center, the NHIS office which was never in existence.
” The community mechanized water projects across the constituency and the tankers supplying water to every area. The people always tell me the benefits of these interventions I have made and what they would’ve been facing had it not been for my efforts” she stated.
Meanwhile, the NPP PC since her election in December 2023, embarked on a vigorous road infrastructure campaign by reshaping all feeder roads across all zones in the constituency including hard to reach farming communities during the raining season.
She has also cut-sod for the commencement of work on the 6kilometers much-anticipated Savelugu to Kumbungu road which is being done by Messrs Takara Bigiza Ventures Ltd and supervised by the Ghana Highways Authority at a total cost of over 26 million cedis.
Similarly, work has also started on the Gushei, Tunaayili and Dipali deplorable road network. These are major economic road projects that will bring massive relief to the inhabitants leaving in those communities.
Hajia Fatahiya at the sod cutting ceremony with the support of the Savelugu MCE, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu and traditional leaders of the beneficiary stated in unequivocally terms that the projects when completed will open up the places to educational and health facilities in the municipality.
She indicated farmers and traders especially women could easily travel to the majors markets for their economic activities without any difficulties henceforth.
Meanwhile, the NPP parliamentary is working to recapture the Savelugu seat for the party having won it for the first time in 2016 and lost it in the subsequent 2020 elections.
The candidate and her campaign team led by the Constituency Chairman and the Municipal Chief Executive, has intensified their efforts and message to canvass support for massive victory on December 7, 2024.
