The Savelugu Constituency Parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 general election, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz received a rousing reception from the Chiefs and people of the constituency during her recent ‘Thank You’ tour.

Her presence in the various communities to pay courtesy calls on the traditional leaders and also interact with the inhabitants brought about a scintillating euphoria which signifies that there is a strong chemistry between the NPP Member of Parliament hopeful and the constituents.

The mammoth crowds that turned out to welcome the candidate and her delegation which included the Savelugu Municipal Chief Executive, Hajia Ayishetu Seidu, the NPP Constituency Chairman and his executives was a clear manifestation that there is a strong desire for her leadership in the constituency.

During the days tour, Hajia Fatahiya Aziz expressed her gratitude to the Chiefs and people of Savelugu for their support and prayers before, during and after the NPP Parliamentary primaries which she won with landslide margin in December 2023.

In her remarks, she assured the traditional leaders and electorates of her unwavering commitment and determination to address some of the teething challenges undermining the socioeconomic growth and development of the people.

She further outlined her plans and vision for the development of the area when she is given the opportunity to represent the people in Parliament and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia elected as President of Ghana.

Nonetheless, the NPP Parliamentary candidate said she has already undertaken developmental initiatives in the constituency to bring relief to the people. She mentioned the construction of about 20 mechanized borehole facilities in various communities, provision of water tanker to supply water to underserved communities, NHIS Municipal office, Community Center project, scholarship for brilliant but needy students and public sector jobs for the youth among others.

“We will continue to work hard for our people. Politics is an opportunity to serve your people and bring prosperity. Savelugu constituency is very dear to my heart and I am here to serve my people” she stated.

The Savelugu constituency has a history of women leadership in Parliament. When elected on December 7, 2024, Hajia Fatahiya will become the second female to represent the constituency in Parliament after Hajia Mary Salifu Boforo, who was the NDC Member of Parliament for two decades between 1996 and 2016.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs at their respective Villages did not hide their excitement for some of the infrastructure projects she has executed in the communities.

They noted that leadership is about providing solutions to address problems of society and that the efforts of the NPP’s candidate demonstrates that she understand the needs of the constituents.

Some of the women in the communities were also full of praises for her, stating they no longer travel several kilometers in search of water.

The women further underscored how her intervention has propelled them to save time for other domestic activities and their businesses.

“This is the kind of person we need in Savelugu constituency as our MP. God bless Hajia for us” one of the excited women said in the local dialect.
