The Northern Champions for NAPO & Bawumia, a group connected to the governing New Patriotic Party in the northern region is rooting for the Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh also known NAPO to be nominated as the running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 general elections.
According to the group, the partnership between Dr. Bawumia and the Manhyia South Member of Parliament represent a dynamic and transformative leadership team that will propel Ghana towards unprecedented heights of development, stability, and prosperity.
The group maintains that the lawmaker’s wealth of experience, exceptional leadership qualities, and proven track record in various capacities of national importance, coupled with his unwavering commitment to the party’s ideals, make him the ideal candidate to complement Dr. Bawumia’s presidential bid.
As a result, they are appealing and making a clarion call on the National Executive Committee of the NPP and all its decision-making bodies to consider the selection of 55-year old Ghanaian medical doctor as the running mate ahead of this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.
Campaign team
The group in a statement issued and copied to THE CUSTODIAN Online on Monday, February 19, has also lauded the Vice President for swiftly setting up his campaign team to prosecute the 2024 campaign stating this marks a significant milestone in our collective journey towards maintaining the mantle of governance and continuing the legacy of development and prosperity for all Ghanaians.
“As ardent supporters of the NPP’s vision and mission, we recognize the importance of unity, strategic partnerships, and the amalgamation of diverse strengths and capabilities within our party to secure a resounding victory in the upcoming elections. In this light, we passionately appeal to the NEC to wholeheartedly accept and endorse the proposed campaign team as presented by our leader, Dr. Bawumia.”
They added, “This team, we believe, embodies the best of our party’s values, dedication, and commitment to the welfare and progress of our beloved party and Ghana.”
The statement emphasized the need for unity among the rank and file of the party in order to secure a brighter future for the NPP and the nation as a whole.
“Let us unite, with a shared vision and purpose, to secure a brighter future for our party and our country. Together, under the capable leadership of Dr. Bawumia and with Dr. NAPO as his running mate, we are poised to break new ground and lead Ghana into a new era of prosperity and progress” they stressed.
