The Bono Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of 27-year-old Haggar Nyorkpatey, a pregnant woman who was found dead on her farm at Yaw Wusukrom, a farming community near Nkrankwanta in the Dormaa West District.
According to a police statement, the deceased, who was seven months pregnant, was killed on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Preliminary investigations revealed that her throat had been slit with a sharp object, and blood clots were found in her mouth and ear canal.
Officers also discovered a foamy substance mixed with blood around her neck, suggesting a possible struggle before her death.
The incident was first reported by 57-year-old Charles Asante, who told police that “the woman, his younger brother’s wife, left for her farm around 8:30 a.m. and did not return.” Concerned community members organised a search, which led to the discovery of her body lying on the farm.
Police personnel who visited the scene confirmed the woman’s pregnancy and the nature of her injuries.
She was reportedly wearing a multi-coloured dress and blue trousers with white stripes at the time of discovery.
The body has since been deposited at the Dormaa-Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
In a statement signed by Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer, police assured the public that “efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspects responsible for this crime.”
The tragic incident has left residents of Dormaa West in shock, as authorities continue their investigation to uncover the motive behind the killing.
