A total of fifty-nine (59) candidates have filed their nominations to contest the Parliamentary elections of the opposition National Democratic Congress across the eighteen (18) constituencies in the Northern Region. The NDC closed nominations for both Parliamentary and Presidential primaries on March 22, 2023.

Three NDC sitting Members of Parliament in the Northern Region are going opposed because no candidate expressed interest to contest.

They are the MPs for Tamale Central constituency, Hon Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, Tamale North constituency, Hon Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini and Hon Daniel Nsala Wakpal, MP for Kpandai.

The NDC Northern Region Communications Officer, Mr. Sulemana M. Agitator, who confirmed this in a statement said the party officially closed nominations at 5PM Wednesday 22nd March, 2023.

“Nominations have been received from interested members from all the eighteen (18) constituencies in the Northern Region.”

“Barring any unforeseen circumstances, vetting will be conducted from 27th to 29th March, 2023. The regional executive committee of the Party takes this opportunity to applaud all constituency executives, members of constituency elections directorates and parliamentary candidate hopefuls for the decorous campaigns so far.
