An 82-year-old farmer, Opanyin Abraham Kwaku Adusei from the Eastern Region, has been named the 2025 Overall National Best Farmer, earning nationwide acclaim for decades of service to Ghana’s agricultural sector.
The honour was announced at the 41st National Farmers’ Day event held in Ho, Volta Region, celebrating his long-standing dedication to food production, innovation, and community development.
With a career spanning more than fifty years, Adusei has become a symbol of resilience and excellence in Ghanaian farming.
Other awardees included 48-year-old Osman Kadiri from the Greater Accra Region as First Runner-up and 63-year-old Charles Gyato from the Oti Region as Second Runner-up. Madam Grace Owusuaah was also recognised as the National Best Female Farmer 2025. All recipients received cash prizes for their outstanding contributions to agriculture.
President John Dramani Mahama presented the awards and commended the winners for their dedication and commitment to national development through farming.
In his remarks, Adusei expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue working with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to support initiatives aimed at modernising the sector and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
His win underscores the vital role farmers play in Ghana’s progress and reinforces the need for sustained investment in agriculture for future generations.
