The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has launched a scathing response to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, following violent scenes during the parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North constituency.

Speaking in reaction to reports that suspected thugs attacked NPP Deputy National Organiser Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah at the Odorkor Methodist 1 polling station on Friday, July 11, 2025, Sam George dismissed attempts by the NPP to blame the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the incident — and told the Bawumia to “shut up” instead of politicising the violence.

The attack, which left the NPP Deputy Organiser injured and disrupted voting for a brief period, has been condemned by both parties, though blame continues to be hotly contested.

The NPP claims the attack was orchestrated by individuals linked to the NDC, accusing them of attempting to intimidate delegates and destabilise the election.

Sam George, however, insists the NPP is merely using the incident to deflect from its internal chaos.

In an X post, Sam George said “Someone should tell Bawumia to shut up. What did he say about Ayawaso West Wuogon in 2019?”

Dr. Bawumia, responding to the attacks at Ablekuma North during a media interview, condemned the attacks, describing them as deeply disturbing and a stain on Ghana’s democratic integrity.

He stated that the situation sets a dangerous precedent that could threaten national stability.

He called on President John Dramani Mahama to bring the perpetrators to justice, adding that an NPP government would not hesitate to prosecute those involved.

However, Sam George, in a sharp rebuttal on social media, urged Dr Bawumia to shut up.

However, two prominent NPP figures, Mavis Hawa Koomson and parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, were also allegedly assaulted by unidentified macho men during a heated political activity in the Ablekuma North constituency.
