The National Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B has stated that the party will in the coming days rise against what he described as selective justice, open bias against the NPP, and unfair application of the law.
Nana B in a post on Facebook dated Tuesday (September 9, 2025) in response to the arrest of the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC called on the Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, not to allow the Police Service to be used by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for its political machinations.
”For the sake of the security of this country, the IGP must step up, and the Ghana Police must not allow itself to be used as an extension of the NDC’s unwholesome political machinations.
”In the coming days, the NPP shall rise against such wanton display of selective justice, open bias against the NPP, and unfair application of the law. We have a democracy to protect” he wrote.
Nana B said: “It has been almost a week yet the Ghana Police Service has failed to take any action on the NPP’s complaint of threat of death by Chief Sofo Azorka and Alhaji Abdul Wahab during the Akwatia by-elections against the NPP’s Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Hon Annor Dompreh (Chief Whip), and myself.”
Strangely, he added the police have the manpower and resources to pursue and arrest the NPP’s Bono Regional Chairman, deny him sufficient legal representation, and arraign him before court within 48 hours on misdemeanours while those who have allegedly committed felonies walk about freely.
According to Nana B, the NPP has cautioned on multiple occasions about the selective justice being meted out by the Ghana Police Service and its seeming bias against the largest opposition party.
