Information reaching The Custodian Online indicates that a meeting held at the Jakpa palace in Damongo between Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I and a delegation from the seat of government over the banning of Samuel Abu Jinapor, the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Damongo constituency from entering all palaces in the Gonjaland ended fruitfully.
Sources at the Jakpa palace closer to the meeting held on Wednesday (July 24, 2024) described the meeting as very productive and fruitful.
The move comes on the back of Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, issuing a decree to ban the former Deputy Chief of Staff from entering all palaces within the Gonja kingdom.
The decision was announced on the heels of allegations within a section of the youth that the Minister was interfering in traditional matters in the area.
The Custodian Online has however learned that the Jakpa palace and the delegation agreed on steps and measures to further deepen cooperation among all stakeholders moving forward.
“The controversy that arose between the Palace and the Damongo MP is settled” the source stated.
The team from the government at of the meeting with the Overlord of the Gonja traditional kingdom expressed appreciation to the Yagbonwura for the warm reception and fruitful deliberations.
The lawmaker in an earlier media interview said he has an extraordinary relationship with the Yagbonwura whom he described as his grandfather and Overlord.
“For me, the fundamental point I would like to make is that the Yagbonwura is my grandfather, he is my father, he is my overlord; there is absolutely nothing I or anybody can do about that and it is a relationship that I welcome” he stated.
Mr. Jinapor also expressed his extraordinary respect, regard and reverence for the chieftaincy institution in the country, adding that, “I have demonstrated it in all humility and modesty as a Minister.”
Meanwhile, the Savannah Regional Minister, Muazu Jibril led the government delegation including the Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng and Minister of Defense, Dominic Nitiwul and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Savannah Regional Chairman among other dignitaries to the Jakpa palaces.
