President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has cut sod for the commencement of work on the dualization of Bimbila town roads. The 2km project is part of lot 5 of the eastern corridor road construction being done by the Akufo-Addo government.

The lot 5 stretch of project covers a distance of about 170km out which 165.5km has completed by the contractor. The outstanding 4.5km however is the dualization of 2.5km Yendi and 2km Bimbila town roads.

Addressing the Chiefs and people of Bimbila on Tuesday (August 9, 2022) to climax his two-day working tour of the northern region, Nana Akufo-Addo said the project is expected to be completed in eight months.

He therefore urged the Chiefs and people to offer the contractor, Andrade Guitierrez & Odebrecht, their maximum support to work within schedule.

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon Kwasi Amoako Atta, for his part stated seven different contractors are working simultaneously on the entire stretch of the eastern corridor starting from Tema Motorway to Kulungungu.

Mr. Amoako Atta said the only outstanding work is the stretch between Gbintri and Kulungungu, adding however that it would be given to contract very soon.

“Otherwise, the entire stretch is being covered by strong contractors and construction works is ongoing simultaneously among all these contractors under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, that which is the difference between the people who have been given the authority to rule the nation” he stressed.

The Minister announced the Bimbila inner city roads would be asphalted when completed and installed with streetlights, ultramodern road designs, and traffic light system to regulate vehicular movement in the municipal capital.

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo-Addo during his Bimbila visit inspected the GHS9.2 million yam and cassava processing factory spearheaded by the Global Almas Processing Ltd under the government’s flagship one district one factory initiative.

Sheikh T.B Damba, founder of the Global Almas Processing Ltd told journalists the company has created about 200 direct jobs under this first phase and additional 400 direct jobs would be created when the factory starts full operations.

President Nana Akufo-Addo also commissioned an administration block at the Bimbila E.P College of Education as of his tour of the area after he had earlier traveled to Kpandai to inspect the progress of work on the district hospital under the 111 government’s agenda initiative.
