Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Mr Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has launched a constituency-wide tree-planting exercise as part of renewed efforts to promote environmental sustainability and combat the effects of climate change.
The initiative, which took place along the Ahwerase–Darmang stretch on Sunday, January 18, 2026, forms part of a broader campaign dubbed, “Help Green Nsawam-Adoagyiri.”
The exercise saw Mr. Annoh-Dompreh joined by traditional leaders, party executives, and grassroots supporters, underscoring a collaborative approach between political leadership and customary authorities in addressing environmental challenges.

Chiefs from communities within the constituency actively participated in the tree planting, lending cultural legitimacy and local ownership to the project.
The tree-planting drive builds on Mr. Annoh-Dompreh’s long-standing advocacy for environmental protection. Over the years, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri MP has consistently spoken about the need to address deforestation, land degradation, and climate change through practical, community-based actions.
He has repeatedly argued that environmental sustainability must move beyond policy statements to visible interventions that directly improve local ecosystems.
Speaking during the exercise, the Minority Chief Whip reaffirmed his belief that tree planting remains one of the most effective and affordable ways to restore degraded environments, improve air quality, and protect water bodies.
He noted that climate change continues to threaten livelihoods, particularly in semi-urban and rural communities, making it imperative for leaders to act decisively at the local level.
Mr. Annoh-Dompreh explained that the initiative is not a one-off event but part of an ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship in the constituency.
He indicated that similar activities have been undertaken in previous years and will be sustained, with the aim of instilling a culture of environmental responsibility among residents, especially the youth.

The involvement of traditional authorities was also highlighted as critical to the success of the project.
The ‘Help Green Nsawam-Adoagyiri’ campaign aligns with national and global calls for climate action, including the commitments to afforestation and environmental conservation.
For Mr. Annoh-Dompreh, the exercise represents a practical demonstration of leadership by example, reinforcing his stance that addressing climate change begins at the community level with simple but deliberate actions such as planting and protecting trees.
