The Board of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) paid a courtesy call on His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II – King of Ashanti Kingdom at Manhyia Palace.
The visit was to officially introduce the Chief Executive and Board Members of the authority.
Welcoming the delegation, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his appreciation for the visit and commended the petroleum downstream regulator for its hard work and commitment in making sure fuel consumed in the country are devoid of adulteration.
He said the important role the NPA plays in the economic development of the county cannot be overlooked, and therefore advised the Board and Management to make sure regulations and certification are enforced for the greater good of all. He commended the Authority for recently embarking on activities to stop illegal fuel trade business.
The Asantehene assured the NPA of his willingness to offer counsel where necessary, to ensure they discharge their duties to the good of the country.
Mr Joe Addo-Yobo, Chairman of the NPA Board, eulogized His Royal Majesty for His enormous contribution over the years towards the development of the Authority.
Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, Chief Executive of NPA, thanked the Asantehene and added that “the authority is on course in resolving fuel adulteration issue with the deployment of technologies such as Electronic Cargo Tracking System and the Petroleum Product Marking Scheme.”
