The Asogli State Council has expressed strong disapproval of the recent fire incident at the Ho Central Constituency office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), allegedly caused by disgruntled party youth.
The council described the act as a serious threat to the principles of democracy and good governance.
In a statement signed by the council’s secretary, Stephen Tetteh, on Thursday, January 23, the incident was labelled as “highly deplorable.”
The council called on all party members to rally behind President John Dramani Mahama in achieving his vision of rebuilding Ghana.
“We encourage all members of the party to support President Mahama in his efforts to achieve his vision of resetting Ghana and building a prosperous future for the nation,” the statement read.
The statement also emphasised the importance of dialogue and adherence to due process in resolving intra-party grievances. It reminded party members that the NDC’s constitution provides structures and channels for addressing internal conflicts.
“We call on all aggrieved members of the NDC to respect these mechanisms and avoid taking the law into their own hands,” the council cautioned.
Additionally, the Asogli State Council urged the party’s leadership, at all levels, to engage constructively with members and to take their concerns seriously in order to foster inclusiveness and unity.
“Transparent communication is key to building trust and preventing misunderstandings that can escalate into conflict,” the statement emphasised.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and progress in the Volta Region and across Ghana.
The incident has since drawn public criticism, with many calling for investigations to ensure accountability and prevent future occurrences.
