The Paramount Chief of the Atebubu Traditional Area, Ohempon Dr. Yeboah Asiamah, has appealed to Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) to extend its transport services to Atebubu and nearby communities.
According to him, expanding access to reliable transport will ease mobility challenges, stimulate economic activity, and help reduce post-harvest losses in the area.
The appeal was made during a recent courtesy visit to the Managing Director of MMTL, Kale Cezar, Esq. The Chief highlighted the difficulties faced by farmers due to the lack of a major commercial transport system, noting that this has led to financial losses and the spoilage of farm produce.
He stressed that introducing Metro Mass services to the municipality would significantly support farmers, improve the movement of goods and services, and boost the local economy.
Ohempon Dr. Asiamah also commended the leadership of MMTL and encouraged management to continue advancing efforts to transform Ghana’s transport sector in line with national development goals.
In response, Kale Cezar, Esq., outlined some of the challenges he encountered upon taking office and detailed measures implemented to improve operations. These include salary adjustments, enhanced staff welfare, and incentive packages aimed at boosting employee morale.

He further revealed that the company is expecting a new fleet of buses, with the first batch scheduled to arrive by the end of March 2026, followed by additional deliveries in the coming months.
Mr. Cezar assured the Chief of MMTL’s commitment not only to operating along the Atebubu route but also to establishing a full branch office in the municipality to serve residents and surrounding communities.
He added that the company plans to introduce cargo transport services to support farmers and traders, ensuring safer and more efficient movement of goods. This initiative, he noted, is aimed at strengthening the agricultural value chain and improving livelihoods in the Atebubu area.
