The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted Atlantic Lithium an environmental permit for its flagship Ewoyaa Lithium Project.
This approval marks a significant step forward in the project’s development, allowing the company to proceed with its proposed activities as outlined in its Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
The EPA permit follows a comprehensive review process, including feedback from both the EPA and local communities affected by the project.
Two public hearings were held earlier this year, in February and June, in the communities of Ewoyaa and Krofu, where strong local support for the project was evident.
Neil Herbert, Executive Chairman of Atlantic Lithium, expressed his gratitude for the EPA’s support and praised the collaborative approach taken during the permitting process.
“This approval is a testament to Atlantic Lithium’s commitment to acting as a responsible custodian of the land on which we operate,” Herbert stated.
With the EPA permit in hand, Atlantic Lithium moves closer to constructing Ghana’s first lithium mine, an achievement Herbert described as a major milestone.
The company looks forward to completing the final steps needed to make the Ewoyaa project “shovel-ready.”
