Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has begun a 5-day campaign tour of the Northern Region. The tour, which started today, Thursday, January 8, is expected to end on January 13, 2026, ahead of the January 31 presidential primary.
During the period, the 2028 presidential candidate hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will engage delegates of 17 out of the 18 constituencies in the region, leaving the Saboba constituency, which he visited in December 2025.
On day one, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will engage delegates of the Kpandai, Wulensi and Yendi constituencies. He will continue his engagement in the Mion, Tatale/Sanguli, and Zabzugu constituencies on Friday, January 9.
The itinerary released by the Bawumia campaign team sighted by The Custodian Online, shows that Dr Bawumia will travel to Nkwanta North constituency in the Oti region for a funeral before returning to the Bimbila constituency to continue his delegates engagement.
He is expected to visit the Gushegu, Karaga and Savelugu constituencies on Sunday, January 11. He will tour the Nanton, Kumbungu and Tolon constituencies before Tuesday, January 13, when he will engage the electorates in the four constituencies in the Greater Tamale area.
The 2024 Presidential candidate is accompanied by former Ministers of State, including former Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, Dominic Nitiwul, former Defense Minister, Deputy Minority Whip, Habib Iddrisu (MP), former Deputy Minister for Transport, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli (MP), and former Northern Regional Minister, Salifu Saeed.
The other delegation members included former Ambassadors, Alhaji Habib Tijani and Hajia Samata Gifty Bukari, former Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), former NPP Executives, among other officials.
