Vice President and flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 general election, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will today file his presidential nomination at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC) in Accra.
Dr. Bawumia who is also the leader of the governing party will be accompanied by his vice presidential nominee Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh affectionately called “NAPO.”
Others to accompany the presidential pair include NPP’s National Chairman Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong and some few party leaders.
A statement issued by the governing party’s General Secretary yesterday indicated that after filing his presidential nomination, the NPP presidential candidate will address party sympathizers and the general public at the Party’s National Headquarters also in Accra at 9:00am.
“Members of the Party and the general public are invited to be part of this historic moment of POSSIBILITY in Ghana’s Next Chapter,” the statement indicated.
Winning hearts and minds
The NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia, has been on a mission to win the hearts and minds of Ghanaians, as he campaigns across the country for the presidency.
He has christened his campaign “Bold Solutions for Our Future,” focusing on three pillars namely -The Battle of ideas and character, The battle of records and The Battel of effective campaign.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign has been issues-based, tackling cogent, practical and tailor-made ideas to deal with matters dear to the Ghanaian people.
The NPP presidential candidate has also been meeting with a wide range of stakeholders including traditional rulers, the clergy, youth groups, traders, drivers, farmers and students as well as interacting with businesses and associations.
Dr. Bawumia’s message of possibility and bold solutions has been endorsed by many Ghanaians, who believe that he has the vision, leadership skills, and experience to transform the country.
Again, his message of unity and purpose has resonated with many Ghanaians, who are tired of the divisive politics of the past.
“Together, with unity of purpose, it is Possible to achieve the Ghanaian dream of accelerated development,” Dr. Bawumia tweeted after his campaign tour of Greater Accra region.
Greater Accra tour
Dr. Bawumia rounded up his campaign tour of the constituencies in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, visiting the Ayawaso West Wuogon, Madina, and Adentan constituencies.
The NPP flagbearer and his team engaged with Ghanaians from all walks of life, listening to their aspirations and concerns, while also explaining his bold solutions for Ghana’s next chapter.
From markets to container shops to lorry stations, Dr. Bawumia met with food vendors, seamstresses, and other traders, who shared their hopes and dreams for a better Ghana.
The Vice President’s campaign message of “It is Possible” has resonated with many Ghanaians, who are yearning for a leader who can transform the country’s economy and improve their living standards.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign has also focused on his achievements as Vice President, including his role in the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, health, the digitalization of the economy, and the stabilisation of the macro-economy.
Vision for future
The NPP presidential candidate has outlined his vision for the country’s future, including his plans to transform the economy, improve healthcare and education, and create jobs for the youth.

NDC’s threat

‘Ghanaians should trust NPP’
Dr. Bawumia has urged Ghanaians to trust the governing NPP to deliver on its 2024 manifesto promises as it has an enviable track record of performance.
Speaking at a recent media engagement in Accra, the Vice President revealed that the NPP has fulfilled 83% and 80% promises of its 2016 and 2020 manifestos respectively.
