The Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has given a facelift to the Tamale Central Mosque in the northern region after over five decades of the facility’s existence.
Dr Bawumia on Friday, January 06, accordingly handed the Mosque to the Northern Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Mohammed Abdul Salam Ahmed and the Muslim community at a short Islamic ceremony following the completion of massive rehabilitation works.
One of the prominent Islamic clerics in the region, Alhaji Baba Dua, on behalf of the Chief Imam commended the Vice President for his enormous support to the Central Mosque and the Muslim community in general over the years.
“We all bear witness when the Vice President told us here that he was taking the responsibility to complete the rehabilitation works of the Mosque. Today, he has redeemed his pledged. Even before this, we can also testify for what we’ve heard he has done in Yendi, what he has done in Prang, among other places; and now he has also come to do this for us in Tamale, we’re grateful.”
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for his part glorified the name of Allah for giving him the opportunity to undertake such worthy course.
“We have to praise God because it is the work of God; without his will you cannot anything – he will create you, give you the desire and the resources everything, therefore, we have to praised him for all that, it’s by his might and not us.
“Everybody wants to grow and progress in life as the Minister said but it is only God who determines your destiny, as a result, we have to continue to pray to him, support President Nana Akufo-Addo for us to work to the benefit of all” he emphasized.
The Deputy Minister for Energy who doubles Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam says what the Vice President is who he is today because of their continuous support and prayers.
“He is still needs your prayers because we want him to move further. It is not only this Mosque he has helped to give a facelift – most Central Mosques in Ghana such as Accra Central Mosque, Kumasi Central Mosque, Bolga Central Mosque, Prang is done and handed over and its today I have even heard that he’s done same for Yendi. If you have been to Mecca you will admit that the work Dr Bawumia has done here a major one.”
Dr Adam therefore called on the Muslim Ummah (people) to continue to remember the Vice President in their daily prayers for God to grant him the ultimate desire.
