The flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, electrified the atmosphere in Kwahu with a spirited walk on March 30th, 2024.

This event drew thousands of attendees, comprising both party loyalists and Kwahu natives.

Commencing from Bepong, the walk gathered an immense throng as it made its way to Mpraeso, where Dr. Bawumia culminated the occasion with a stirring address.

During his speech, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the distinction between his forward-looking approach and what he characterized as the stagnancy of his opponent, Asomasi [referring to Mahama].

“Asomasi is bringing old solutions. He is bringing nothing new to the table. I am bringing bold solutions, not old solutions. He is bringing failed solutions,” asserted Vice President Bawumia to the enthusiastic crowd.

Highlighting the significance of the Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative, Dr. Bawumia cautioned against the potential reversal of this policy under a different leadership.

“Didn’t Asomasi say that if he had money (GHC2 Billion), he would never put it into Free SHS? If we bring him back, won’t he cancel Free SHS?” he queried, eliciting a resounding response from the crowd.

Continuing his critique, Dr. Bawumia questioned Mahama’s reliability, citing past decisions such as the cancellation of allowances for teacher and nursing trainees.

“Didn’t he cancel teacher trainee allowances? Didn’t he cancel nursing trainee allowances? Is he the one we should bring back as president?” he challenged the charged audience.

Appealing to the electorate’s foresight, Dr. Bawumia urged them to entrust him with leadership, underscoring his commitment to accountability and continuity.

“If you give Asomasi the mantle of leadership, he will leave the job and embark on a honeymoon. He knows he will not come back again after four years, hence, the honeymoon,” he cautioned.

Dr. Bawumia appealed to Ghanaians to entrust him with the opportunity to lead the nation, assuring them of his commitment to performing exceptionally. He emphasized his intention to seek another mandate after his first term in office, confident in his ability to deliver positive change and progress for the country.

“As for me, if you elect me, I will come back for your votes in 2028. I will work harder to solve the challenges of this country if you give me the chance.”

In addition, Dr. Bawumia rallied party members to conduct grassroots campaigns, articulating the government’s achievements and outlining his administration’s vision for national progress.

With unwavering resolve, he urged Ghanaians to support his candidacy, emphasizing a commitment to diligent governance and a pledge to seek re-election based on performance.
