The Ghana Black Stars have secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night.
A decisive first-half strike from Mohammed Kudus proved to be the difference in a tense encounter that kept fans on edge until the final whistle.
Kudus, who has been in sensational form for both club and country, broke the deadlock to slot a low effort past the Comoros goalkeeper.
The win sees Ghana finish top of Group I in the CAF World Cup qualifiers, earning a coveted ticket to the global showpiece, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada in 2026.
Comoros, who came into the match hoping to repeat their past upsets against Ghana, struggled to break down a disciplined and well-organised Black Stars defense.
The result sparked jubilant celebrations across the country as Ghana sealed its fifth World Cup appearance, following previous qualifications in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022.
With qualification secured, attention now turns to preparations for the 2026 tournament, where the Black Stars will aim to make another strong impression on the world stage.
In Group I, Madagascar finished second with 18 points, level with Mali in third. Comoros placed fourth with 15 points, followed by the Central African Republic (CAR) also on 15 points, while Chad finished sixth with just one point.
