Former presidential aspirants Bryan Acheampong and Kwabena Agyepong have formally conceded defeat following the conclusion of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal contest, bringing an end to their respective campaigns.

Both men acknowledged the outcome of the process based on the provisional results and congratulated the winner, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

They emphasised their respect for the party’s democratic structures and expressed gratitude to delegates, supporters, and campaign teams who stood by them throughout the race.

Bryan Acheampong noted that while the result was not in his favour, the greater priority remains the unity and progress of the party. He called on his supporters to rally behind the leadership and work together toward the party’s broader electoral goals.

Dr Bryan Acheampong, in conceding defeat in the party’s presidential primary, congratulated Dr Bawumia.

He said “I just called to congratulate you on a very good election, you have done well. I think this is a God factor, so let’s keep it like that. Big brother, congratulations, democracy has won. Internal elections have won.”

Similarly, Kwabena Agyepong described the contest as a valuable exercise in internal democracy. He urged party members to put differences aside and focus on strengthening the party ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Addressing supporters and members of his campaign team, he acknowledged the verdict of party delegates and urged unity behind the presumptive winner.

He said “We just called the presumptive winner, and we are waiting for the official statement from the Electoral Commission, but it’s quite clear that he’s going to have victory,” adding that he had already taken steps to close the chapter on his campaign.
