Braimah Isaac Kamoko alias Bukom Banku, has officially declared his retirement from the boxing ring, citing a desire to pass on the legacy to his children.
The popular Ghanaian pugilist secured a bronze medal in the heavyweight division during the 1999 African Games in South Africa, marking a pivotal moment in his journey to a professional career.
His dominance in the ring manifested in an impressive record of 29 victories in 30 bouts, with his lone defeat occurring against Bastie Samir in October 2017.
“I’ve grown, and at the same time, my eye is also paining me, so I don’t want to fight again. Three of my children are boxers, so I’ve left everything for them. I’ve packed my gloves and my shoes, all for them, Abu Kamoko and Mustafa Kamoko. I’ve laid the path so they can continue,” he said in an interview on Okay FM.
Detailing his upcoming ventures, Bukom Banku disclosed his shift towards comedy and event hosting. “I have stopped boxing, and I’m starting comedy and some shows I do by myself,” he added.
Bukom Banku predominantly contested his professional matches in Africa, notably in Ghana, with a notable triumph in the United Kingdom against Hungarian Ferenc Albert after three rounds in 2019.
