The Minister for Business Development, Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has presented a brand new Hyundai Ambulance to the Regent of Jisonayili, suburb of the Sagnarigu municipality in the northern region.It will serve as a Community Hearse vehicle. Dr Awal also presented a brand new Land Cruiser PRADO to the Paramount Chief of Tolon, Naa Major (rtd) Sulemana Abubakari to aid his movement.
The gesture is a personal intervention and support to the people of Jisonayili who hitherto had lamented about the state of the Community’s Hearse van anytime they convey the mortal remains of deceased persons in the area to the cemetery.
The Programmes Manager at the Business Development Ministry who doubles as the NPP Tamale South Parliamentary Candidate together with the Sagnarigu Constituency NPP Candidate, Madam Felicia Tetteh presented the vehicle to the Regent of Jisonayili on behalf of Dr Ibrahim Awal on Monday 7 September, 2020.
They also proceeded to Tolon to hand over the Land Cruiser PRADO to the Tolon Naa.
Assemblyman for the Jisonayili/NORRIP Electoral Area, Mr. Seini Salifu Zakaria described the donation as a remarkable one for the community members and thanked Dr Ibrahim Awal for his humanitarian support. He prayed for good health and a long life for the minister.
According to him, the community has struggled for so long to raise funds to purchase the vehicle and when Dr Awal heard of their predicaments, he swiftly responded to salvage the situation for them.
He noted that the community will continue with their widows’ might contributions to ensure the maintenance and durability of the vehicle to serve the community.
For his part, the Programmes Managing of Business Development Ministry, Mr. Yakubu Yussif explained the decision of the minister to come to the assistance of the people.
He said the continuous support given to the Chiefs and other stakeholders in the north is because of his resolve and commitment to promote the welfare and development of the people.
He added that Dr Ibrahim Awal has helped a lot of the youth to secure scholarships to further their education and job opportunities to empower the youth to reduce the poverty margins in the north.
“We can only pray for him for his health and perseverance to continue all these things that Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Awal is doing to the people. I only hope that other well meaning people from the north will emulate what he is doing to transform our people” Mr. Yussif said.
Meanwhile, the Tolon Naa Major (rtd) Sulemana Abubakari also commended Dr Awal for the gesture and expressed his sincere gratitude. He gave historic antecedents and connection between the New Patriotic Party and the Tolon traditional area.
Naa Sulemana charged the youth of the community to always stand firm in what they believe and never relent to do what is right.
