Coronavirus: Yakubu Yussif supports COVID-19 fight in Tamale South

The Member of Parliament hopeful for the Tamale South constituency on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Yakubu Yussif yesterday distributed veronica buckets, sanitizers and liquid soap to his constituents in the fight against the pandemic coronavirus disease in the Tamale metropolis. The gesture is a personal contribution of the NPP candidate for the 2020 parliamentary elections to curb the wield spread of the pandemic.

The Tamale South Constituency NPP Youth Organizer, Issah Abdul Razak on behalf of the candidate disclosed to Journalists during the exercise that, about five hundred (500) veronica buckets and big seize packs of hand sanitizers and liquid soap were presented to the traditional leaders, healthcare facilities and Youth Groups in the constituency.

He underscored the importance of the exercise in the wake of the pandemic outbreak in Ghana, stating the safety and wellbeing of the people is a great concern to the NPP and its Parliamentary Candidate who is also the Programmes Manager at the Ministry of Business Development. The Youth Organizer said the items donated will enable the people to regularly wash their hands.

The Lamashe Naa Abdulai Ziblim in his remarks welcomed the gesture and thanked Mr. Yakubu Yussif for supporting the palace. He urged the people to take the stringent measures announced by government to safeguard the public serious. He said the country is not in normal times; therefore admonishing the people to observe the social distancing protocols and also observe frequent hand washing.He noted this is the least the public can do to help government in curbing the spread of the virus in Ghana.

The Paramount Chief of Bamvim, Naa Abdulai Mahama

For his part, the Bamvim Lana, Naa Abdulai Mahama demonstrated the hand washing procedures and entreated his elders and community members to do same. He said this is necessary to avoid the COVID-19 infectious disease. He commended Yakubu Yussif for extending a helping hand to the palace and the people of Bamvim.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded a total of 136 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus and according to the ghanahealthservice.org/covid-19 webpage, the number constitute 58 routine surveillance cases with one recovered and three deaths as well as 78 mandatory quarantine cases with all victims responding to treatment as at today Friday, 27 March, 2020.
