The Deputy Minister for Energy, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, who is also the Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency in the northern region, Saturday night [4th December, 2021] received Leadership in Government Policy and Advocacy award at the 8th Ghana Oil and Gas Awards (GOGA) held in Accra.
The award is recognition of the modest contributions of Dr Amin in the country’s oil and gas sector particularly with policy formulation and development of the sector since the establishment of his Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP) in 2010, one of Ghana’s critical energy sector Think Tank and his current role as the Deputy Minister for the sector in the Akufo-Addo government.
In his acceptance remarks, the Karaga lawmaker said, “It is a pleasure to receive the honour in recognition of the contributions that I have made for the good of our country” adding it has only been in furtherance of the interest of the people of Ghana”.
He emphasized this feet is a collective effort and therefore commended his former colleagues and partners whom he worked with to achieve this.
Nonetheless, he gave an assurance to the industry players that the Minister for Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh and for that matter government was working hard to reposition the oil and gas industry to withstand the financial and economic stress that would result from the push for the global energy transition.
In this regard, the Deputy Energy Minister implored the sector players in the value-chain to take advantage and diversify their investment in the energy industry.
The Ghana Oil and Gas Awards is organized annually by Xodus Communications Limited to reward excellence in Standards and Stewardship, Health and Safety as well as Corporate Social Responsibility.
The platform also showcases activities and achievement of companies in the oil and gas industry in the previous year.
