A recent audit by the Ghana Audit Service has recommended the immediate arrest of former headmaster Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School (DZOSEC) in the Volta Region, Mr. Prince Koffi Adiabo; also known as Edward Allan Agbeti or Edward Agbeti, following a payroll investigation at .
The audit revealed that Mr. Adiabo, who served as the former headmaster of DZOSEC in Ketu North, allegedly received unearned salaries totaling GH¢184,096.94 between January 2023 and April 2025 through the use of fake academic certificates.
The findings were confirmed by the Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Mr. Francis Yaw Agbemadi, in Ho. The remuneration audit was part of a broader payroll verification exercise conducted by the Audit Service.
According to the audit report, Mr. Adiabo was appointed into the Ghana Education Service using questionable documentation. It was also discovered that he may have engaged in impersonation, using different names — including Edward Allan Agbeti and Edward Agbeti — identities also linked to a teacher at Mafi Avedo EP Primary.
The Ghana Audit Service has urged authorities to:
• Apply the sanctions outlined in Section 82 (a-e) of Act 1023
• Revoke any existing appointments
• Refer the matter to the Ghana Police Service
• Ensure full recovery of the GH¢184,096.94 into the Auditor-General’s Recoveries Account
“We therefore recommend that the sanctions outlined in Section 82 (a-e) of the Act 1023 should be applied without delay,” the report stated.
“We also recommend that the staff refund the full amount received,” it added.
With the case officially flagged and submitted to relevant authorities, a criminal investigation is expected to follow.
