Despite being racially abused in the opening English Premier game of the 2025/26 season, Bournemouth’s striker Antoine Semenyo score a brace against Mo Salah’s Liverpool at Anfield yesterday.

The Ghanaian player, Semenyo, had earlier reported a fan at Anfield for racial abuse at the start of the game. The game was suspended briefly after he reported he was racially abused.

He went on to score a sensational second-half double as champions Liverpool led by two goals at half time with goals from new signing Hugo Ekitike and Cody Gakpo.

Semenyo’s goals was in the 64th minute with assist from teammate Brooks.

Semenyo’s second goal came in the 76th minute with a solo run from his team’s half when he played on by teammate Traore, powering through the middle and pushing Liverpool’s defence back.

He cuts inside onto his favoured left foot near the perimeter of Liverpool’s area, before burying the the ball on the left side of Allison, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance to stop the ball into the bottom-right corner.

Semenyo’s brilliance was enough to level the game for his team but Liverpool restored their 2 goal lead in the late minutes of the game when Italian player Frederico Chiesa, who came on in the 82nd minute for German youngster Florian Wirtz, scored within five minutes after coming on.

Egyptian Magician, Mo Salah sealed the game with a goal in the 94th minute of stoppage time to end the game on 4:2 for the Champions.

A great player but above all, a great human being.

Only a strong character shows such resilience in those circumstances.
