Hon Farouk Aliu Mahama together with his siblings have presented one hundred copies of the Holy Qur’an to the Maryam Alolo Islamic Institute in Tamale in the northern region.
The family also presented a cash amount of five thousand cedis (GHS5,000) to support the affairs of the institute and a ticket for this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca to perform Hajj in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Mahama brothers whilst doing the donation solicited the faith based organization and the Muslim community to remember the former second family in prayers particularly their late parents – their father, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, former Vice President of Ghana and their mom, Hajia Ramatu Mahama, former Second Lady.
Hajia Ramatu Mahama passed on a fortnight ago and her mortal remains buried next to the tomb of her husband at their private residence in Tamale after a state funeral at the Independence Square.
Hajia Mariama Alolo, Executive Director for the institute thanked Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama and the siblings for the gesture. She further prayed for the deceased couple and the welfare of the entire Aliu Mahama family.
The bereaved family are expected to hold the Seventh Day Islamic ceremony in honor of the deceased in Yendi tomorrow Sunday, April 17, 2022, after which date for the final funeral rites will be announced.
Family friends and sympathizers in Ghana and outside the shores of the country still visit Tamale to mourn with the bereaved family.
Alhaji Mohammed Indimi, a Nigerian billionaire and founder of Oriental Energy Resources (OER), a long-standing friend of the late Alhaji Aliu Mahama, earlier this week flew his private jet to Tamale to mourn with the family.
The business mogul was warmly received by Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama at the Tamale airport together with brothers and some members of the family.
