A tragic incident has occurred at the Wa T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School (SHS) in the Upper West Region, where a final-year student was fatally stabbed following a confrontation reportedly sparked by a dispute over a phone video on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
According to reports, the altercation began when a final-year student studying Agricultural Science, called Iddrisu Ibrahim, popularly known as Lincoln, from Bulenga, and his friend Hafis, also known as Baayaawa.
It all started when Lincoln reportedly recorded a video of Hafis without his consent.
Hafis, a third-year General Arts student from Bawku, confronted Lincoln, demanding that he delete the video.
When Lincoln allegedly refused, Hafis threatened to stab him. Witnesses report that Lincoln brushed off the threat and dared him to act on it.
The disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument, during which the Hafis allegedly pulled out a sharp knife and stabbed Lincoln in the rib and stomach.
Following the attack, Hafis attempted to flee, but word of the incident quickly spread across the campus.
A group of students reportedly tried to mobilise for retaliation, but police intervened in time to prevent further violence.
Hafis was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
Despite his severe injuries, Lincoln managed to stagger from the hostel area toward the school library before collapsing.
Police have confirmed the arrest of a suspect.
A female eyewitness recounted the horrifying scene: “When Lincoln came out, the knife was still stuck in him. Some students removed it before rushing him to the hospital.”
Lincoln is currently receiving treatment at the Wa Regional Hospital, where his condition is described as critical but stable.
School authorities have expressed deep shock over the tragedy and assured parents and the general public that they are fully cooperating with the police to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This incident adds to growing concerns about student-related violence and the need for stricter measures to curb such confrontations in educational institutions.
