Former Member of Parliament for Yendi Constituency, Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, has donated food items to support the final funeral rites of the late Mionlana Abdulai Mahamadu.
The weeklong traditional funeral rites commenced on Friday, May 23, at Sambu, the traditional capital of Mion. The funeral will end on May 30, 2025.
Consequently, the former MP who is also the Mion Zongo Chief has presented 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of tin tomatoes, and 300 bags of sachet water to funeral planning committee.
Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama also added a cash amount of ten thousand cedis (GHS10, 000) and a bull to support the funeral process.
The Yendi Constituency Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Baba Gazali, who made the presentation on behalf of the former lawmaker noted that the gesture reflects the deep respect and admiration the latter have for the late traditional leader.

He stated this significant contribution aims to assist the family in organizing a dignified farewell for Mionlana Abdulai Mahamadu, who, he said was a prominent figure in the Dagbon traditional Kingdom.
The Abudu family led by the Paramount Chief of Karaga, Naa Bakpem Kari-Naa Abdulai Nantogmah, expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the generous support, acknowledging the continuous support and solidarity of the former MP in this difficult moment.
The weeklong funeral rites are expected to bring together hundreds of people from all walks of life to honour the legacy of the revered traditional ruler who endeared the hearts natives of Dagbon and outside the kingdom.
