The GoldBod has signed a strategic agreement with the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA) to undertake geological investigations in the mineralised, blocked-out areas of Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East under Phase One of the project.
This move marks a significant step in GoldBod’s efforts to promote responsible and data-driven mining practices across Ghana.
The initiative is expected to generate credible and comprehensive geological data, which will support the establishment of model mines in the country.
Under the agreement, GGSA will carry out the geological investigation services over four months at a cost of GH₵27.5 million.
The selected sites—Funsi, Atuna, and Bensere East—are among 20 mineralised areas that were previously released to GoldBod by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
The project underscores GoldBod’s commitment to enhancing sustainability in the mining sector while maximising national gold output.
By investing in reliable geological data, the organisation aims to ensure that mining activities are conducted efficiently, responsibly, and for the long-term benefit of Ghanaians.
