A Parliamentary Candidate hopeful of the New Patriotic Party in the Tamale North Constituency, Mr. Habib Adam, has organized a two-day breast cancer and medical screening exercise for polling stations women wing of the party.

The exercise is part of the social intervention efforts of the parliamentary aspirant to provide healthcare service to the party structures in the constituency. The exercise began on Wednesday, November 1, and expected to end on Thursday, November 2, 2023 held at the campus of Our Lady of Fatima basic school in Nyanshegu.

The beneficiaries turned out in their numbers for the free screening exercise.

Mr. Habib Adam, in an exclusive with THE CUSTODIAN said the rationale for organizing the exercise is to enhance the health of the hardworking women wing of the party ahead of the crucial electioneering season.

“One of the reasons why we’re doing this is to ensure that we work with a healthy people and one of our key policy is to take care of the health of our people and so we started this long time ago by renewing the National Health Insurance of our people and enroll those of them who are not register on the program” he stated.

For the breast cancer screening, the MP hopeful said there is an alarming rate of infections in the country, therefore, the need to screen these women for them to know their breast health status.

“And I am even told that, in Ghana, about 3,100 die out of breast cancer related health complications. So in order to prevent that from happening, we ensure that our people should do the screening to know their status since prevention is better than cure” he emphasized.

Mr. Habib Adam therefore encouraged the beneficiaries to take full advantage of the exercise to acquire the requisite healthcare to improve their livelihood.

“…I am doing all this because we have a mission, we have something we’re also pursuing which is politics and when you to the local level, it is part my vision for the people of Tamale North Constituency where I am aspiring to contest on the ticket of the NPP and there are a lot things that we have been doing for the constituency even after I lost the primaries in 2019” he stated.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries were sensitized on the signs, symptoms and effects of breast cancer and general healthcare education.

Hajia Sadia Abdulai, a midwife and one of the medical team said, “We gathered about one hundred women to educate them and our main focus was on how they can palpate themselves, how to take care of themselves, the treatment for breast cancer and where they can go for the treatment”.

The beneficiaries who turned out on day one of the exercise were full praises for the parliamentary aspirant and added the education is timely and will go a long to help them in life.
