Presidential Staffer at the Office of the President, Hajia Fathia Abdul Aziz, has formally filed her nominations to contest the upcoming Savelugu Parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party.
Hundreds of NPP supporters, polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, former constituency executives, elders of the party among many other key stakeholders in the constituency turned out massively to support her submit the forms to the elections committee on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
The mammoth crowd in the charged atmosphere march through the principal streets of the Savelugu constituency to exchange pleasantries with youth groups and elders in the community amidst drumming and dancing.
Hajia Fathia led the procession to pay homage to the Paramount of Chief Savelugu, Yoo Naa Abdulai Yakubu Andani where she to seek the blessings and support of the traditional leader.
Addressing the media, the MP hopeful assured the people of Savelugu of her unwavering commitment to work and serve the constituency with integrity when given the node in the party’s internal elections and consequently in the 2024 general elections.
She said the day marked a significant milestone in her journey for a brighter future together with the people of Savelugu, and with humility that she seeks to represent the hopes and aspirations of the constituency.
Hajia Fathia mentioned the number of permanent employment opportunities she has secured for the youth of Savelugu in local government, immigration, fire service and Ghapoha among others since the Akufo-Addo led NPP government assumed office in 2017.
“I have been able to secure permanent job opportunities such as immigration, fire service, Ghapoha, local government service for the youth. I have also been able to lobby for the construction of the Savelugu Community Center, I have also lobbied for the Health Insurance Municipal Office – one of the best offices when completed and I have also been able to construct about 20 mechanized boreholes in various parts of the constituency” she stated.
She therefore reaffirmed her resolve to serve the constituency with a humble heart and an unwavering dedication and service with integrity.
Meanwhile, the Yoo Naa in his remarks cautioned politicians in the area not to use vulgar and intemperate language on one another during the campaign.
Rather, the Chief intimated politics is about development and those seeking to lead the political parties must tell the electorates what they can do to bring change and development to the community when given the opportunity.
According to him, all past Members of Parliament who have served the constituency since 1992 failed to bring the requisite development to the Savelugu constituency and urged the constituents to all nonperforming MPs.
He said the youth must also be cautious with the way and manner they ride their motorbikes as the campaign intensifies ahead of the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Some of the jubilant NPP supporters and delegates who spoke to THE CUSTODIAN described Hajia Fathia Aziz as the savior of the people.
They believe the Presidential Staffer has what it takes and integrity to recapture the seat from the NDC in 2024 and salvage the people from their predicaments.
The youth also pointed out to some of the infrastructure projects springing up in the constituency and commended her for prioritizing their developmental needs.
