The Member of Parliament for the Walewale constituency in the North East Region, Hajia Lariba Zuweira Abudu, has touted her achievements barely four years since she was elected in the 2020 general elections. The lawmaker said she has done a lot of work to improve the socioeconomic livelihood of her constituents in the past three years running.
“I want to say that we have done a lot of work in this constituency. If you talk of roads, we have done roads; if you talk of lights, we have done hundred percent coverage and doing extensions now. If you talk of schools, water, we’re here and if you talk of jobs, we can tell you the number of jobs, we have provided to the youth.”
The legislator who is also the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection also mentioned the Walewale watermelon processing factory under the flagship One district, One factory initiative, the Ghana National Fire Service training school, agenda 111 hospital project among others as some of the infrastructure developments in the area undertaken by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led government.
“I will account to my people what I have done in this constituency. I will go to the radio stations and tell you each and every village where we have supported somebody to have a job, we have all the documents and we will tell you also the villages we haven’t touch and next time we are going to tackle those villages” she stated.
The Gender, Children and Social Protection Minister made these remarks when she filed her nomination forms last Monday (December 25, 2023) to contest the January 27, parliamentary primaries.
Hundreds of New Patriotic Party supporters across the seven zones in the Walewale constituency turned out in their numbers to accompany “Hajia One” as she is affectionately referred to in the area to submit the forms to the constituency elections committee.
The charged crowd matched through the Walewale-Bolga highway amidst singing and dancing. The traditional drummers were full of appellations for the lawmaker using some of her developmental accomplishments.
Hajia Lariba in her remarks further called on the electorates to vote for the Vice President and the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to lead the country in 2025.
“I want to urge everyone here to support breaking the 8. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is from this constituency, we all have to come together him one touch vote and give Hajia Lariba one touch vote so that I will follow Dr Bawumia to the Jubilee House to bring more developments and jobs” she admonished.
Meanwhile, one of the respected opinion leaders from the Janga zone popularly known as Johnson has entreated the NPP delegates to give their mandate once again to Hajia Lariba Abudu. According to him, the work the MP has done in the past three years is unmatched in the political history of the constituency.
However, he observed Hajia Lariba has only fell short of not marketing her good achievements and implored her to tell her good story through the media.
“What I always advise her to do and it is not forthcoming is her publicity. As for the work, she has done a lot, just that she doesn’t publish them.”
Three male aspirants have also filed their nomination forms to contest the Walewale parliamentary primaries.
