The first scheduled flight from the Tamale International Airport on Tuesday, 28th May, 2024, airlifted a total number of four hundred and twenty-seven (427) Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca for this year’s Hajj. The Ghana Hajj Board announced weeks ago that about four flights are expected to fly from Tamale between Tuesday and Friday, May 31.
According to the organizers, over four thousand Ghanaian pilgrims are expected to participate in the 2024 pilgrimage.
The Executive Secretary of Ghana Hajj Board, Alhaji Farouk Hamza, prior to the takeoff admonished the pilgrims to be of good behavior and represent Ghana as good ambassadors while in Saudi Arabia.
He also advised the travelers to always move with their identity cards to avoid any situation with Saudi authorities.
“Ensure you always move with your ID card wherever you’re and don’t misplace because the authorities will not allow access to Arafat or Mina and so everyone should ensure you have them with you. And when you lose your ID card immediately inform your agent so that we can provide one for you again” he appealed.
Meanwhile, the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana on their official Facebook page announced Wednesday morning that the first Tamale bound flight has landed safely in Madinatu Munawarah.
