Vice-President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says his principle in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership election is not to attack his opponents.

Rather, he said his focus is on sharing his ideas and projecting the good works of the NPP Government.

The Vice-President was addressing stakeholders and delegates in Kukuom, Asutifi and Goaso all in the Ahafo Region.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that it will be toxic for him to attack his opponents in an internal contest, when the ultimate objective of every member of the NPP is to see the party defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024.

“I don’t believe in attacking my opponents and I won’t do that because it will be toxic and won’t be good for our party,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“This is an internal contest to elect our flagbearer, so why should I attack my opponents or say something against our party?

“I am running a very decent campaign. I am selling my ideas to delegates and I do that with decorum, with humility, with respect and without mentioning anybody’s name,” he stressed.

The Vice-President also said he has cautioned his campaign team members and spokesperson not to attack anybody, even if he is attacked by any aspirant, in the interest of the party.

“This should be a contest of ideas not insults. So I have told all my staff not to insults or attack anyone.

“They should stick to sharing my vision and message to delegates. I have told them that even if I am attacked or insulted, they, should not respond because I am a unifier.”

Dr. Bawumia also said he has cautioned his campaign team members and spokesperson not to attack anybody, even if he is attacked by any aspirant, in the interest of the party.

“This should be a contest of ideas not insults. So I have told all my staff not to insults or attack anyone.

“They should stick to sharing my vision and message to delegates. I have told them that even if I am attacked or insulted, they, should not respond because I am a unifier.”

his orientation and life experience have thought him to accord respect and create inclusive support for all, because life is about helping one another.

“Everyone needs help, one way or the other,” Dr. Bawumia said.

“That’s why I believe in creating opportunities and giving people opportunities. Many people are looking for opportunities, and when you create opportunities, you change the life of many,” he added.

“My own life experience teaches me to be humble and respect everyone you meet because the cleaner you meet today, can be a Vice President tomorrow.”

“When I was in secondary school in Tamale, I used to go to the farm during holidays to support myself.

“I had an opportunity to study abroad and over there, I drove taxi and cleaned dormitories to earn some money to pay for my fees.”

“All these teach me to be humble, to respect people and to also create opportunities for people,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
