The campaign prospects of Kennedy Agyepong is fast eroding in the northern region following the resignation of his campaign coordinator for the Tamale South constituency and accordingly throwing his support behind former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Yakubu Abdallah, one of the staunch campaigners for the former Assin Central Member of Parliament vying to become the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially declared his unflinching support for the 2024 flagbearer ahead of next year’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31.
”I, Yakubu Abdallah (Tortoise), former Tamale South Constituency Coordinator for Hon. Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential campaign, hereby officially declare my unflinching support for His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
”To all NPP delegates, the time has come for us to make a strategic decision that will secure our party’s future. Dr. Bawumia represents our surest path to victory in 2028. His unique combination of humility, emotional intelligence and innovative governance makes him the most marketable candidate we can present to the Ghanaian electorate” Mr. Yakubu said in a press release dated Monday, August 4.
He maintained in his statement that Dr Bawumia possesses the qualities of leader who can unify the largest opposition party after the internal contest and attract floating voters with his cross-party appeal, adding the former Vice President can also consolidate the party’s achievements through his digital transformation agenda and win the 2028 general elections with his proven track record.
”His groundbreaking policies like the Ghana Card integration, mobile money interoperability, and digital addressing system demonstrate the kind of forward-thinking leadership Ghana needs. As delegates, we must look beyond personal interests and vote for the candidate who gives us the best chance to victory.”
Mr. Yakubu therefore implored all NPP faithful, especially delegates, to rally behind Dr. Bawumia’s candidature when the time comes.
