A devastating road crash at Kwashieman in Accra has left several people feared dead after a violent accident between a passenger bus and a truck in the early hours of Friday.
The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Good Friday, April 3, 2026. A Grand Bird bus travelling from Takoradi to Sowutuom was attempting to turn at the Kwashieman traffic light when the crash happened.
At the same time, a truck carrying onions was approaching the intersection from the Lapaz direction, heading toward Kasoa. Reports suggest the truck was moving on an amber light while the bus proceeded with its turn.
Despite repeated honking by the truck driver to warn the bus, the two vehicles collided with significant force. The impact forced the truck off its course, causing it to veer into pedestrians who were waiting at the traffic light to cross.
Eyewitnesses described the aftermath as chaotic and distressing, with extensive damage and multiple injuries sparking panic among bystanders. The bus was reportedly carrying passengers en route to a convention.
Police say the severity of the crash has made it difficult to immediately confirm the number of casualties. Investigations are currently ongoing.
