The Mayor of Tamale, Hon Sule Salifu, has admonished the newly inaugurated assembly members of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly to work hand in hand, transcending boundaries and embrace diversity to build a city that is resilient, sustainable and inclusive.
He said the assembly members must seize the opportunity to create a legacy that future generations will be proud of.
“Hon. Members do keep in mind that the assembly is held in high regard by our community not solely as a deliberative institution but one that present an exceptional opportunity to effect positive and enduring changes in the lives of those we represent” he noted.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive added whether about healthcare, education, infrastructure development, or any other aspect of public welfare, the decisions that are carried out in the assembly have extensive ramifications and therefore require scrutiny.
Mr. Sule Salifu in his welcome address during the inauguration of the 9th Assembly of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly on Monday, 12th February, 2024 stressed that the Metropolitan Assembly is not just a physical space, but a platform for dialogue, cooperation, and decision-making.
He emphasized that it is a place where ideas are exchanged, policies are shaped, and dreams are transformed into reality.
“The previous Assembly contributed tremendously to the development of the Tamale Metropolis. In the spirit of continuity, this Assembly is expected to carry the baton from where the previous one ended. Hon. Members would therefore be called in due course to serve in various capacities at the Assembly” he announced.
The MCE further entreated each and every one to actively participate in the affairs of the assembly, voice their opinions and contribute their expertise.
“Try to execute your duties as indicated in the local governance Act 2016, Act 936 section 16 sub section 1 -2” he admonished.
