In his final State of the Nation Address on December 3, 2025, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo congratulated President-Elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory in the December 2024 presidential election and expressed his full support for the incoming administration.
He also celebrated Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for emerging as the first female Vice-President-Elect of Ghana.
Speaking in Parliament on Friday, President Akufo-Addo described Mr Mahama’s comeback as a significant moment in Ghana’s democratic history and expressed optimism for the nation’s future under his leadership.
“I congratulate my friend and colleague, President-Elect John Dramani Mahama, on his historic victory. I assure him of my support and that of all well-meaning Ghanaians,” Akufo-Addo said.
President Akufo-Addo also hailed Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s achievement as the first woman to occupy the position in Ghana’s history.
He lauded the milestone as a progressive step for gender equality and national development.
As he prepares to leave office on January 6, 2025, President Akufo-Addo reflected on his tenure with gratitude, affirming his belief in Ghana’s continued growth and stability.
