Majority Leader in Parliament and Leader of Government Business, Mr Mahama Ayariga, has outlined a comprehensive legislative agenda as Parliament resumed sittings for the second session of the ninth Parliament.
Briefing journalists earlier at a media encounter and speaking later on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, February 3, Mr Ayariga who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bawku Central, highlighted bills and regulations spanning multiple sectors, including finance, energy, education, local governance, and sports.
The legislative proposals and regulations to be presented for consideration include amendments, revisions, and new bills.
They include the Ghana Cocoa Board Amendment Bill, Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Bill, Ghana Deposit Protection Amendment Bill, Exemptions Amendment Bill, Income Tax Amendment Bill, Extractive Industries Fiscal Reforms Bill, Ghana Bankruptcy Act (revision), and Ghana Banking Services Agency Bill.
Others are Rent Bill (Ministry of Works & Housing), Buffer Zones Regulations, Local Governance University Bill, Local Governance and Development Bill, Abolition of Coastal and Middle Belt Development Authorities (bill), Amendments to Land Use and Special Planning Act.
The rest are the Road Traffic Amendment Regulations (discipline among Okada riders) and NPA Act Revision.
Others are College of Education Bill, Ghana Book Development Council Bill, Ghana Bureau of Languages Bill, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park Authority Bill, Environmental Protection Carbon Market Regulation 2026, Basic Ionizing Radiation Control Regulations, Integrated Management Systems Regulations, Emergency Preparedness and Response Regulations, Design of Nuclear Installation Regulations, Review and Amendment of the Biosafety Act, Nuclear Power Corporation Bill, Renewable Energy Authority Bill, Minerals and Mining Bill (comprehensive revision), Ghana Geological Survey Authority Regulations, Minerals and Mining Regulations, Wildlife Resources Mining Regulations, Renegotiated Power Purchase Agreements Legislation, National Sports College, Winneba Bill, Regulations to enforce the Anti-Doping Act and New Sports Fund Act Regulations.
As a result of these bills and other businesses of the House, the second session of the 9th Parliament promises to be a busy period for Parliament, with Members set to debate and deliberate on these bills, amendments, and regulations that aim to enhance governance, economic growth, social development, and national infrastructure.
