The Assemblyman for Agege Mamponse Electoral area, Daniel Nii Armah Tagoe, recently organised the first zonal community public forum for parts of his electoral area.
Agege Mamponse is an electoral area located in the Ablekuma West Municipality.
The public forum is the first of its kind in many years which is intended to bring community members together towards developing a sustainable and thriving mamponse.
Speaking on behalf of the Assemblyman and the interim committee, Bishop Amponsah mentioned;
“This forum brings us together to help initiate a process of community mobilisation which will enable us to assess our needs, identify and prioritize actions and responses, and discuss ways and means of resolving the challenges and difficulties we experience in our communal lives”.
We also believe that an initiative such as this forum contributes to stakeholder engagement and participation in good governance, ethics, accountability and purposeful community development” added Mr. Amponsah, Chairman of the Interim Committee.
Participants in the forum showed enthusiasm to engage on critical matters including the road network within the community and the roads that have been left to deteriorate.

Concerns were raised regarding access to electricity and the difficulty in acquiring meters for users.
Issues surrounding water and sanitation were not left out.
Delinquency on the parts of the youths within and outside the community was a big concern for many of the community members.
Resource persons from the Ghana Police Service (GPS), National Disaster Management Organisation (NaDMO), Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Ghana Water Company (GWC) and a Public Health Officer from the Ablekuma West Municipal Assembly were present, who took turns to address questions directed at them.
A forum as such would have been incomplete without the presence of the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Hon. Rev. Kweku Addo and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. George Allotey.
The MP proposed ways in which sanitation could be improved ‘by agreeing with artisans and making available building materials to erect places of convenience in homes that need them’ on an agreed payment plan with homeowners.
He added also that flooding could be reduced, with the help of the MCE and the homeowners if all agreed to create space for water ways where buildings have been erected. A majority of those present showed support for the proposals.
The Assemblyman, popularly known as ‘Oshie’, in his remarks expressed enthusiasm in the show of support on the part of the community members for participating in the forum and assured the community the forum was going to bring the desired results.
