Manchester City has completed the signing of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo from AFC Bournemouth in a deal worth £64 million, strengthening Pep Guardiola’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
The 26-year-old, who has been one of Bournemouth’s standout performers, joins the Premier League champions after an impressive campaign in which he delivered goals, versatility, and a relentless work rate.
His performances caught the attention of several top clubs, but City moved quickly to secure his signature.
Semenyo is expected to add depth across the front line, with Guardiola known to value forwards who can play multiple roles.
The Ghanaian international can operate as a central striker, on either wing, and even in deeper attacking roles — a trait that fits well with City’s fluid style of play.
City struck an agreement with Bournemouth outside Semenyo’s £65 million release clause, paying a guaranteed £62.5 million, with a further £1.5 million in performance-related bonuses and a 10 per cent sell-on clause included in the deal.
Although the guaranteed element of the release clause stood at £60 million, Bournemouth will receive a slightly higher fixed fee of £62.5 million, payable in installments over 24 months.
Manchester City fended off strong competition from Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Tottenham to secure the Ghana international’s signature.
Manchester City expressed excitement about the signing, describing Semenyo as a player with explosive pace, strong decision-making, and the mentality to thrive at the highest level.
Semenyo himself said he was “thrilled” to join the reigning champions and eager to compete for silverware.
His arrival adds further firepower to a squad already featuring Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Julián Álvarez, giving City even more attacking options as they look to defend their domestic and European titles.
The deal marks another major step in Semenyo’s rise from Bristol City prospect to Premier League star — and now, a Manchester City signing with the potential to make a significant impact.
