The Ofaakor Circuit Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man to 15 years’ imprisonment in hard labour for robbery and causing harm.
Kolie Samuel pleaded guilty to both charges and was sentenced to 14 years for causing harm and 15 years for robbery, to run concurrently.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs Unit at the Central East Regional Police Command, told the Court that the incident occurred on July 10, 2025, at about 0530 hours at Millennium City near Golden Pride Preparatory School in Gomoa East.
He said Kolie robbed a female victim of her handbag, which contained an iPhone 16 Pro Max and a purse with an unspecified amount of money.
“Through intelligence-led investigations and also with the assistance of the victim, Kolie was tracked and arrested at his hide-out at Ngleshie Amanfrom, a suburb of Accra on the same day,” DSP Dosoo said.
He told the Court that the victim’s iPhone was retrieved during a search, along with other items believed to be stolen.
These included a Dell laptop, two Itel mobile phones, a Nokia mobile phone, an Alcatel mobile phone, and a Vodafone WiFi device.
Also recovered were two pairs of AirPods, a gold necklace, three wristwatches, a ladies’ purse, a wallet containing a health insurance card bearing the name Kwapong Sahnan, and ten memory cards.
“The Central East Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public by bringing perpetrators of such crimes to face the full rigors of the law,” DSP Dosoo stated.
