Minister for Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawaase, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak announced a Gh100,000 and Gh50,000 insurance package for personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service.
The Ghana National Fire Service on 27th June, 2025 graduated 578 Fire Officers at the Fire Academy and Training School in Jamestown, Accra.
Minister of Interior and Member of Parliament for Asawaase, Hon. Mubarak Muntaka was present as the Inspection Officer.
He expressed profound gratitude to the Ghana National Fire Service for their tireless and sacrifice to the nation;
“Your tireless dedication has not gone unnoticed. Your work in dangerous conditions, often without the recognition you deserve.
“On behalf of the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and on my own good behalf, we want to congratulate you to show that we are grateful” Hon. Muntaka mentioned.
He added that the service saved the nation so much money in the first quarter of 2025 alone.
“Even more impressive, the Service helped save property worth more over Gh150 million in the first quarter of 2025 compared to just 45 million in the same period in 2024” shared Hon. Muntaka.
356 males and 222 females who were commissioned into the Service form part of the first batch of students to graduate from the newly built Ghana National Fire Service College, in Kyebi Akwadum.
Hon. Muntaka, during the ceremony, announced to the officers of the Fire Service a new insurance package available to officers who suffer injuries, injuries which hinders them from working permanently or lose their lives in the line of duty.
“We have secured insurance for every Fire fighter that gets injured in duty that get injured on duty, that dies in the line of duty, or get permanent injuries or permanent disability during duty” stated Hon. Muntaka.
He added: “As a start, it may not be much; for serious injury Gh 50,000. Permanent injury is GHS 100,000. It is a small beginning and I hope to work to improve this to make sure you do not toil in vain”.
Some invited guests include Ga Mantse Nii Takyi Teiko Trulu II, Hon, Anyim Adu- former Chairman of Fire Service Governing Board, and Osaberima Mafo Kwabere represented the Okyehene.
