President John Dramani Mahama has appointed the Northern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Ali Adolf John, as the Northern Regional Minister-designate.
Mr. Ali is an educational professional who has served as a Tutor, a Circuit Supervisor and Desk Officer within the Ghana Education Service over the years.
He holds a Bachelor of Education and Masters in Technology degrees from the University of Education, Winneba.
The nominee previously served the District Chief Executive for Saboba in the Northern Region during the first term President Mahama.
Politically, Mr. Ali Adolf, in the past served as the Saboba Constituency Secretary for the National Democratic Congress. In 2018, he was also elected as a Regional Vice Chair of the party but was subsequently made the acting Regional Chairman when the late chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila died in August 2022.
He was consequently elected as the substantive regional chairman in the party’s regional elections few months later, a position, he has held till date.
As the Regional Chairman, Mr. Ali Adolf John, performed to the admiration of the rank and file of the party in the region.
His sterling performance resulted in the NDC winning majority parliamentary seats in the region and recaptured constituencies such Mion, Nanton, Zabzugu, Tatale and his native Saboba.
He worked assiduously to the admiration of the rank and file of the party and managed to unite the various factions within the party in the region.
Meanwhile, President John Mahama, on Tuesday (January 14, 2025) formally submitted a lists of ten (10) Regional Ministers to Parliament through the Speaker for approval out of the 16 regions.
The lists include Northern, Oti, Volta, Eastern, North East, Ashanti, Upper East, Ahafo, Savannah, and the Greater Accra Regions.
