The Jeoun VIP Transport Company has commissioned a new bus terminal in Tamale in the northern region to expand its catchment areas of operation across Ghana. The new bus terminal will serve travelers from the Northern, North East, Savannah, Upper East and Upper West regions to various destinations in the north.
Executive Director of Jeoun VIP Transport Company, Mr. Yaw Amposah Maafo in his address at the official launch last Thursday (December 16, 2021) in Tamale said from a humble beginning of twelve buses in 2009, the company can now boost of a fleet of over seven hundred buses serving over 45 destinations nationwide.
He disclosed the company would add 30 buses every year to its fleet for the next ten years in line its resolution in 2020 to provide its customers frequent and quality services. He announced one hundred buses have added to their fleet in the last eighteen months for a safe and convenient travels.
In addition to this, Mr. Maafo revealed the company management have also taken steps to establish single purpose state-of-the-art bus terminal in all other regional capitals.
“It is in line with that resolution that we are here in Tamale before this august assembly to officially commission this edifice we find here”.
He said the company in the coming period would also improve the frequency of its buses from Accra to the five regions in the north and in line with the objective it expand and extend their services to Walewale, Nalerigu, Bunkprugu, Damongo, Nandom and Hamile to make transportation accessible to the people in these areas.
He explained the northern regional capital, Tamale, has been an ancient trading center and the VIP transport is proud to be opening its community to center the five the regions in the north.
The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, for his part said the achievement of the transport company is commendable, adding this has come as a result of the government of Ghana providing the enabling environment for the transport sector of the economy to thrive.
He stated the Akufo-Addo administration is committed to create that business friendly atmosphere for all business minded individuals and organization to invest.
The Minister observed the road transport sector has over three decades now dominated the transport industry, stating the private sector has delivered enormous services to boost the socioeconomic activities of the country.
He indicated the absence of private sector participation in the transport sector would have been a difficult situation for the nation and therefore lauded the intervention to invest in the sector.
Meanwhile, the Northern Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, COP Mahmud Yussif at the occasion also commended management of company for proving well experienced drivers to handle their fleet over the period in business since it has become one of the preferred brands for travelers in the country.
However, the MTTD Commander said it has become very critical especially during this Christmas and the coming New Year celebration to advise both drivers and the general public against practice that would endanger lives and properties.
He implored drivers to comply with the normal speed limits and all other road traffic regulations provided on the roads and avoid wrong overtaking particularly where personal driving view is restricted.
