Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is bigger than any individual.
He said no ambition, grievance or faction is greater than the elephant and that leadership contests must never weaken the collective cause of the party.
Addressing the rank and file of the party on Thursday, January 22, during the signing of the peace pact ahead of the upcoming Presidential primary on Saturday, January 31, 2026, Nana Akufo-Addo noted that unity in the NPP is not optional; unity is not a slogan but a strategic necessity for victory.
He therefore charged the five aspirants in the race to commit to peace and unity before, during and after the primaries.
“This peace pact must not only be signed, it must also be lived,” Nana added.
Over the remaining days, the President further admonished the candidates to be guided in their campaigns.
“Let your campaigns be firm but fair, competitive but respectful. Ours is a tradition that rejects fear, insults, intimidation and bitterness,” he advised.
Nana Akufo-Addo maintained that loyalty to individuals must never supersede loyalty to the party and that the NPP, after the primaries, must be one party, one direction, one destiny.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the NPP Presidential Elections Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has said all is set for January 31.
Mr. Owusu disclosed that ballot printing is currently underway and all the presidential aspirant have their agents on site to monitor the process and ensure it aligns with the party’s arrangements.
