NPP Picks Winning Team For 2024 Polls

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected a highly motivated team of national executives to help ensure victory in the 2024 general election and to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.

Accordingly, the new executives were immediately sworn into office by the outgone National Chairman of the party, Mr. Freddie Blay, to start action towards the ensuing presidential and parliamentary elections.

Acceptances speeches by the new National Chairman, the General Secretary and others signalled their readiness to work hard for the NPP to ‘break the 8’.

They are Mr. Stephen Ntim, National Chairman; Danquah Smith Buttey, 1st Vice Chairman; Rita Asobayire, 2nd Vice Chairman and Alhaji Masawuud, 3rd Vice Chairman.

The rest are Mr. Justin Frimpong Koduah- General Secretary, Henry Nana Boakye- National Organiser, National Treasurer – Dr Charles Dwamena, Kate Gyamfua-National Women Organiser, National Nasara Coordinator- Abdul Aziz Haruna Futah, and National Youth Organiser-Salam Mohammed Mustafa.

The new executives were elected by over 6,000 delegates at the National Delegates Congress held at the Accra Sports Stadium over the weekend.

Major upset

There was a major upset at the election as lawyer Justine Kodua Frimpong popularly referred to as JFK unseated incumbent and highly experienced General Secretary, Mr. John Boadu by 313 votes.

JFK polled 2,837 votes as against John Boadu’s 2,524 votes, to register victory.

Delegates reward Ntim

With the national chairmanship position, Mr. Stephen Ayesu Ntim who battled for the slot for the last 20 years, was finally rewarded by NPP delegates. 

He left his challengers far behind with a massive 4,014 votes with his closest challenger, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng also known as Asabee registering 1,010 votes.

The rest were Kwabena Abankwa-Yeboah, who was highly tipped to impress, finished in a distant third with 294 votes, Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi -101 votes, Gifty Asantewa Ayeh aka Daavi Ama had 44 votes, Sammy Crabbe – 32 and Akwasi Osei-Adjei – 20.

Substantive Women’s Organiser of the NPP, Kate Gyamfua, is expected to be confirmed officially to have retained her post after running home with a landslide victory.

Gyamfua polled a 620 votes to beat Hajia Sawudata who polled 32 votes and Ellen Ama Daaku, who polled 9 votes.
